JEE Advanced 2018 will be online
In a major decision on Sunday, Joint Admission Board (JAB) decided to conduct JEE Advanced 2018 and onwards completely online. Earlier it used to be offline but due to discrepancies in question papers this year, this major step has been taken which has left lakhs of aspirants in a shock.
Many students from rural backgrounds who are not well versed with the computing technology will take a major hit. In a statement, Director, IIT-Madras, and Chairman JAB 2017, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi said, “It has been decided that the JEE (Advanced) will be conducted in online mode from 2018 onwards. Further information regarding the examination will be provided by the JAB in due course.”
There has been a debate on this decision in the last few years but JAB has finally decided to take IIT-JEE to the next level. Results can now be declared early which should be beneficial for students. Also this is an environment friendly move.
Let us keep our fingers crossed and see what other changes are made next year once a detailed information is given by JAB.
